About
Dr. Sevinç Ümit
Neurologist and academic in Istanbul with a special interest in sleep disorders and geriatric neurology. Certified in polysomnography and able to speak with patients directly in five languages.

Biography
Dr. Sevinç Ümit is a neurologist (specialist in brain and nerve disorders) and academic based in Istanbul. She attended the Tolbuhin German High School, graduated in medicine from the Medical University of Varna in Bulgaria, and completed her neurology residency at the Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine.
She has worked as a neurologist at Medicana Hospitals and served as an Assistant Professor at Istanbul Gelişim University. Her academic work focuses on geriatric neurology (neurological conditions in older age) and sleep disorders, and she is certified in polysomnography (sleep studies).
Because she speaks English, Turkish, German, Bulgarian and Russian, patients from Bulgaria, the Balkans, German-speaking countries and many other parts of the world can talk to her directly, in their own language or a shared one.
How I work
Most neurological problems start to make sense after a careful history and a thorough examination. In the first consultation I listen to how your symptoms began and developed, ask about other conditions and medicines, and — where possible — involve a family member who knows you well.
Tests such as EEG, EMG, evoked potentials or a sleep study are requested only when they will change the diagnosis or treatment. Results are explained in plain language and put into context with your symptoms.
For international patients I plan the visit so that the consultation, tests and any procedure fit into as few days as possible, and continue follow-up online once you are home.
